About me & how I got here

I have read, You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero three times in the past four years. The first time I read it, I got promoted from my entry-level job as a Business Development Representative (BDR) to an Associate Account Manager. The second time I read it, I got promoted from an Associate Account Manager to an Account Manager & made it to President’s Club that year! The third time I read it, I started this blog as a Customer Success Manager looking to empower people in the corporate world by having tough and uncomfortable conversations.

I cannot recommend this book enough!

3 quick things about me:

1. I love to work (yes, you read that correctly) I love getting recognized for my hard work and – nothing and I mean nothing fires me up more than being recognized (think Capricorn girl boss energy – yeah, that’s me!) but my relationship with recognition isn’t always healthy and sometimes leads me down a path where I am only ever doing things to be recognized which isn’t fun.

2. I struggle with people-pleasing and being a high achiever which ends up creating a lot of issues for me but we will get into that another time because I know there are many others like me out there and I have learned a thing or two to help with both of these!

3. I have always hated asking for help because in my mind asking for help means I am weak or incapable of doing my job which I have recently learned is also false and turning down help only leads to more burnout.

So, how’d I get here.. well the pandemic taught me that asking for help is not a sign of weakness – it is shockingly a sign of strength. By asking for help I have been able to build this incredible team who I refer to as “my personal board of directors” and with this board, I have been able to tackle my burnout through tough conversations by being vulnerable and my sharing my actual emotions in the workplace.

how the last two years of my life have felt

I have also learned that I get empowered by empowering others so my goal for this blog is to share my experiences in order to help others in this corporate world who might be in the same shoes as me (probably not the same exact shoes because I wear these funky crocs almost every day) but you get the point!
