A broken keyboard isn't the end of the world

But sometimes it can feel that way!

I didn’t think I would be writing my second post this soon but my laptop keyboard broke this morning and I have a pretty big customer facing call that I am running today with 5 different customers so you can imagine – this has been quite an exciting morning!

If this were to happened 2-3 months ago, I can guarantee it would have gone something like this: I would have texted at least 3 friends that I hate my life and how nothing ever works when I need it to (I recently popped my bike tire mid-ride and my apple watch decided to break the day I was about to get my “August monthly badge” – IYKYK) I think I would cried a little which would have then turned into anger and I would have been so upset that I would have paralyzed myself to the point where I would have struggled to get any work done.

Today, looked a little different – I went to type in my password and realized my keyboard wasn’t working. I said, “whelp, looks like I have to use my desktop computer today.” I texted my friend who recently broke her laptop and found out what the correct steps were to get it fixed by IT. I then signed into my desktop computer and I submitted a ticket to IT and messaged my manager to let her know. I then proceeded to test my reports, deck, and Zoom capabilities for my call later today. All of this accomplished under 1 hour. All my reports work, my deck looks just as good as it did on laptop, and I am able to hear myself on Zoom which is a huge relief!

It’s wild how many opportunities we have in our day to make a choice to either take a positive mindset approach or let the opportunity ruin our whole day! I recommend taking the positive mindset approach – if I were you.
